Culture Minister Ali Jannati attends anti-terrorism conference in Damascus

TEHRAN -- Iran’s Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Ali Jannati arrived in Damascus on Thursday to attend the International Media Conference for Confronting Takfiri Terrorism, which opened at Dar al-Assad for Culture and Arts on Friday.


Jannati delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the conference, saying that Iran will continue to stand by the Syrian people as it stands by the side of justice, the Syria Times reported.

“We have to be more strongly and effectively present on the front line of resistance to face Zionism and racism and combat Takfirism and fanaticism that are the result of the misinterpretation of Islam,” said Jannati.

Over 130 media figures from Russia, China, Iran, Turkey, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Egypt, Lebanon, Iraq, Algeria, Morocco, Bahrain, Jordan, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Cyprus, Britain, Germany and Kuwait are participating in the two-day conference.

The conference is scheduled to discuss various issues including the role of mass media in confronting terrorism, journalism fieldwork, the formation of an alliance to combat terrorism and future visions for mass media.
