Berlin says Iran sanctions to be lifted later this month

TEHRAN - German Foreign Ministry spokesman Martin Schaefer said sanctions imposed against Iran over its nuclear program could be lifted later this month as Tehran has met all its obligations under the July 14 Vienna nuclear accord.

Addressing a regular weekly news conference in Berlin on Monday, Schaefer said Iran has never been so close to its objective of removing nuclear sanctions, as it has complied with all its duties under the landmark Vienna deal, IRNA reported.

Schaefer reiterated the pace of progress in implementing the nuclear agreement has been much quicker than was previously expected.

He made clear there was no evidence whatsoever that Iran would even deviate “one iota” from its agreed nuclear commitments under the Vienna accord.
