Modern adaptations of classic Persian literary works published

TEHRAN -- A series of classic Persian stories rewritten in the modern style of contemporary literature has hit the Iranian market under the title “Once Upon a Time”.
The series contains three books: “Vis O Ramin” by the 11th century Persian poet Fakhreddin As’ad Gorgani, “Tazkirat al-Auliya” by Iranian 13th century mystic and poet Farid od-Din Attar Neishaburi, and “Bustan” by the 13th century poet Sheikh Muslih od-Din Sadi Shirazi.
The authors have tried to present the stories in the new form of today, making them accessible for contemporary readers including young adults and adults, the Persian service of MNA reported on Tuesday.
Published by Parseh Publications, the Persian love story “Vis O Ramin” is rewritten by Nahid Tabatabaii and illustrated by Elaheh Behin.
Rewritten by Yusef Alikhani, “Tazkirat al-Auliya” (The Dhikr of the Friends of Allah) is illustrated by Maryam Tabatabaii. “Bustan” (The Orchard) is rewritten by Mohammad Motlaq and illustrated by Haleh Parsazadegan.
“Once Upon a Time” series is headed by Yusef Alikhani and a team of 30 writers and 10 illustrators. Fariba Vafi, Abutorab Khosravi, Siamak Golshiri, Amin Faqiri and Mohsen Farajo are among the authors.
Language and literary structure are given due attention in the books, while the stories narrated in poetry form have been turned into prose to be more attractive to readers.
