Iran’s Rahimi seizes bronze in 57kg freestyle wrestling

Rio de Janeiro – Hassan Rahimi from Iran snatched a bronze medal at the men's 57kg freestyle wrestling in Olympics on Friday.

Rahimi, who lost to Japan's Rei Higuchi in the semifinals, defeated Cuba's Yowlys Bonne, the world No. 3, 5-0 to win the bronze medal in the division.

Gold medal went to Vladimer Khinchegashvili, who beat Higuchi in the final match.

The Georgian wrestler won on countback after the final ended 3-3.

Iranian weightlifters Kianoush Rostami and Sohrab Moradi have already won two gold medals in the 85kg and 94kg weight categories respectively.

In Greco-Roman wrestling, Saeid Abdevali and Ghasem Rezaei have claimed two bronze medals in the 75kg and 98kg.

Kimia Alizadeh has also won a bronze medal in the women's -57kg taekwondo.
