TEHRAN – Iran’s Farabi Cinema Foundation (FCF) has organized a film screening program in Tehran opening today to commemorate the Sacred Defense Week, the anniversary of the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war.

Eight Iranian films are scheduled to go on screen during the event entitled “The Stars of the Earth” at Tehran’s Kiarostami Hall of FCF.

Among the films are “Standing in the Dust” by Mohammad-Hossein Mahdavian, “Mina’s Choice” by Kamal Tabrizi and “Breath” by Narges Abyar.

The winner of the Crystal Simorgh for best film at the 34th Fajr Film Festival this year, “Standing in the Dust” tells the life story of Motevasselian, an IRGC commander who was kidnapped by the Zionist regime in 1982 in Lebanon.

Starring Milad Keymaram and Mina Sadati, “Mina’s Choice” is about the happy marriage of Mina and Mehran, which is broken in the wake of mistrust and finally infidelity.

“Breath” tells the story of four children whose mother had died a few years ago and their father decides to join the Iranian volunteers on the warfront following Iraq’s attack in September 1980.

“Cyanide” by Behruz Shoeibi, “Mermaid” by Masud Aqababaian, “To the Distance” by Hossein Qasemi-Jami, “Till Ahmad Comes” by Sadeq Sadeq-Daqiqi and “Hail and Sun” by Reza Karimi are other films to go on screen during the program, which will run until September 30.
