U.S. planned major attack on Iran if nuclear talks failed: commander
TEHRAN – The commander of Iran’s Passive Defense Organization has said the U.S. had been planning to carry out a major attack on the country’s infrastructure in the event that negotiations over Tehran’s nuclear program would have failed.
“Washington’s comprehensive plan to attack the Islamic Republic would have targeted the country’s electrical grid, communication networks, aviation, and transportation,” said Brigadier General Qolamreza Jalali during a press conference on the occasion of Passive Defense week.
Jalali said the plan was part of Washington’s efforts to hamper Tehran’s nuclear program, underscoring the Islamic Republic’s readiness to counter such threats.
The top commander also underlined the magnitude of Washington’s economic threats against Iran, saying, “The enemy feels that it can exert economic pressure on the Islamic Republic.”
He added, “This shows the significance of such economic warfare, and it warns us to be more prepared for that.”
--------‘Silent biological wars’------
Elsewhere in his remarks, Jalali accused the United States of carrying out a biological war against the Iranian nation, saying such acts are meant to target the country’s agriculture and livestock farming.
“Some diseases are created by the United States in the laboratories. These are instances of the dangerous threats used against the Islamic Republic,” said Jalali, describing such threats as “silent biological wars”.
The commander also emphasized that the military threats against Iran have been continuing through the enemy’s proxies in the region, therefore “we must be aware of these threats.”
He also hailed Iran’s military might, due to which “the United States’ ground attack option is no longer viable.”
