“Lords of the Secrets” concert film unveiled in Tehran

TEHRAN – The film of vocalist Homayun Shajarian’s concert “The Lords of the Secrets” directed by celebrated filmmaker Rakhshan Bani-Etemad was unveiled during a ceremony in Tehran on Tuesday.

Shajarian and composer Sohrab Purnazeri attended the ceremony held at Niavaran Cultural Center.

Speaking at the ceremony, Shajarian expressed his hope that the younger generation in Iran can form a strong bond with Iranian traditional music.

“We are living a life full of changes and it is difficult for the younger generation to connect with Iranian traditional music”, he said. 

Purnazeri also said that they have performed a repertoire of the album’s songs in over 50 concerts in Iran and other countries.

Poems by Rumi, Khayyam and Hafez have been set to music on the album.
 
The film focuses on Shajarian’s tour of Iran during 2012 and he performed songs from his acclaimed album “The Lords of the Secrets” that was released in November 2015.
