Australia Persian Intl. Film Festival unveils official lineup

TEHRAN – The 7th edition of the Persian International Film Festival, which will be held in the Australian cities of Sidney and Melbourne, has announced the official lineup.

The Sidney program will be held from August 30 to September 2 and Melbourne will host the festival from September 6 to 9, the organizers have said.   

“A Man of Integrity”, a drama by Mohammad Rasulof, will open the festival, which will go on with “Redhead” directed by Karim Lakzadeh, “Dressage” by Puya Badkubeh, and “Advantage” by Mohamad Kart.

“Disappearance” by Ali Asgari, “The Charmer” by Milad Alam, “Privacy” by Ahmad Moazzemi, and “Soheila No. 17” by Mahmud Ghaffari are also among the movies to compete for a Golden Gazelle Award at the festival.

A number of special screenings of films will be organized at the Australian Film, Television and Radio School (AFTER). 

“24 Frames”, the last film by the world-renowned Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami, and “About the Salesman”, a documentary by Tahmineh Monzavi and Vahid Sedaqat about the Oscar-winning film “The Salesman” and Asghar Farhadi’s cinema, is part of the program for the special screenings.

Acclaimed shorts such as “Retouch” by Kaveh Mazaher, “Animal” by Bahman and Bahram Ark, and “Gaze” by Farnush Samadi, will be screened at the festival. 

The Sydney festival will come to an end by screening “Zero to Podium”, a documentary by Sahar Mosayebi about the lives of Shahrbanu, Soheila and Elaheh Mansourian, three Iranian sisters who are Wushu fighters from the small Iranian town of Semirom.
