Nigerian festival to screen Iranian shorts

TEHRAN – Two Iranian short animations will compete in the 1st In-Short Film Festival, which will open today in Lagos, Nigeria.

“Pet Man” by Marzieh Abrarpaydar and “Dash Akol” by Hajar Mehrani will go on screen at the international section of the festival, the Documentary and Experimental Film Center (DEFC) announced on Wednesday.

Pet Man” is the story of an animal dealer who falls asleep in his shop and has a nightmare in which he finds himself caught in an animal cage. He manages to escape and seeks to rescue other animals, but every time he is faced with an obstacle. He finally awakes from his nightmare but still feels surrounded with uncertainty and fear of the animals.

“Dash Akol”, an adaptation of prominent Iranian writer Sadeq Hedayat’s short story, is about a middle-aged man, Dash Akol, who falls in love with a 14-year orphan girl, Marjan.

The festival will come to an end on December 22.
