Iran, UNICEF to cooperate on helping girls with disabilities

TEHRAN – The presidential department for women’s and family affairs announced a new cooperation with the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) regarding children focusing on girls with disabilities.

UNICEF is cooperating with different organizations in Iran, ISNA quoted Leila Falahati, director general for international affairs at the presidential department for women’s and family affairs, as saying on Saturday.

In a recent meeting held in Tehran between UNICEF official and the officials of presidential department for women’s and family affairs, different subjects such as out-of-school and disabled children were discussed, however, currently the target group of both sides was assigned as “girls with disabilities”.

UNICEF’s activities for disabled children in Iran were on promotion of awareness and influencing in policy-makings, Falahati said concluding the current meeting put emphasize on more cooperation in this field.
