Qeshm conference to bring ECO cultural envoys together

TEHRAN - The Persian Gulf island of Qeshm will be playing host to cultural envoys from the Economic Cooperation Organization, the director of ECO Cultural Institute said on Tuesday.
The representatives are scheduled to negotiate a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the intergovernmental organization and the Qeshm Free Trade Zone, Mohammad-Mahdi Mazaheri said, IRNA reported.
Discussions are expected to mainly revolve around tourism, sports and museums, he noted.
Citing tourist attractions of the island, he said that its UNESCO-tagged “Qeshm Geopark” is of very importance not only in the whole Asian continent but on the global scale.
The official however didn’t mention a date for the conference.
Qeshm Island embraces wide range of ecotourism attractions such as the Hara marine forests and about 60 villages dotted mostly across its rocky coastlines. The island has an abundance of wildlife, including birds, reptiles, dolphins and turtles as well.
