Australia Wins First Match of Sri Lanka Tour

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka Australia beat Sri Lanka's Cricket Board XI Thursday in the first match of the current cricket tour that includes a three-nation tournament. Set to score 209 in 50 overs to win, the Australians made 212 for four in 45.1 overs. Ricky ponting was the highest scorer with 60, followed by Adam Gilchrist's 45 and Darren Lehman's 37. For the Sri Lankans, Sajith Fernando scored 67. The Australians will now travel to the southern port city of Galle where they will meet host Sri Lanka in the first match of the three-nation one-day series that also features India. (AP)
