Iran Will Conduct Research on Breast, Esophagus Cancer PARIS Chancellor of the Medical Sciences University of Iran Mohammadreza Zafarqandi said Iran is to conduct research project on breast and esophagus cancer, the common diseases in the north of the country, in collaboration with the center to combat cancer in Lyon, France.
Talking to a group of Iranian physicians based in Paris, Zafarqandi said that in line with the policy, pursued for about three years, to expand scientific ties with universities abroad and following proposal of dialogue amongst civilizations by President Mohammad Khatami, Iran has signed several contracts with German and French medical universities for exchange of expertise and professors.
At the meeting, the Iranian physicians voiced their readiness to transfer any kind of experience to their compatriots. (IRNA) 63,000 Afghan Refugees Back Home in Four Months: Official TEHRAN Deputy Head of Foreign Nationals and Immigration Affairs Department in the Ministry of the Interior Mohammadreza Rostami said Monday that during the last forth months some 63,000 Afghan refugees in Iran have voluntarily returned to their country.
Referring to a plan implemented jointly by Iran and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Rostami pointed out that about 4,500 Afghan refugees can return to their homeland every month.
Rostami said so far some 63,000 people have returned to Afghanistan in family groups plus 40,000 Afghans individually. The religious decree or fatwa, authorised by six leading clerics, will allow women to lead prayers in girls' schools for the first time since the 1979 Islamic Revolution which brought the clergy to power here.
