President Khatami Arrives in Sanandaj

SANANDAJ, Kurdestan Province President Mohammad Khatami arrived here Saturday on the first leg of his three-day tour of Kurdestan Province.
The president was welcomed at the Sanandaj Airport by local officials and religious leaders of both Shia and Sunni faiths.
On arrival, President Khatami told reporters he was in the province to meet the people and inspect ongoing development projects.
Khatami said Kurdestan enjoys many potentials the most valuable of which is its hard-working people. He added, however, there are many problems facing the province.
President Khatami left the airport for the Behesht-e-Mohammadi Cemetery to pay homage to the martyrs of the city.
The president also delivered a speech in Malek-Nia Stadium.
During his stay in Kurdestan, the president will also visit the towns of Marivan, Baneh, Bijar, Saqqez, and Qorveh.
