TEHRAN Secretary of Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Hojjatoleslam Hassan Rouhani said on Sunday that confronting the threats, utilizing the opportunities and reinforcing national power are fundamentals of national security. Addressing the conference of heads of Iranian diplomatic missions abroad, Rouhani said the form of threat has changed from traditional form of the blatant aggression.
The threats to national security are now posed by psychological war and propaganda campaign against the legitimacy of the governments and putting forward new criteria for legitimacy of the governments, he said. He pointed to the process of globalization and prevention of the developing nations from acquiring advanced technology and blocking them from entry to regional and international markets as the other threats to national security of the nations.
Rouhani said that in confronting threats to national security, independent states should rely on their national power and the governments are required to mobilize national power so that trust should prevail between the governments and the nations.
He underlined the importance of publicity, diplomatic and legal capability in dealing with threats to national security adding that the two topics of national unity and national sovereignty are determinants of national power.
