ROME The porter of an Italian hotel reproached British Prime Minister Tony Blair's son Euan for making a noise when he returned in the early hours from a night out at a local disco, Italian news agency ANSA said on Friday.
ANSA identified the hotel as Albergo Bellavista, one of the most exclusive hotels on the island holiday resort of Ponza in Rome's Lazio region.
Euan, 16, was accompanied by two friends, the news agency said.
It said Euan arrived in Ponza by boat for a 24-hour stay on Tuesday and was met at the port by police for security reasons.
The hotel's owner Erasmo Mastropietro was quoted by ANSA as saying: "There was no diplomatic incident. He understood, said he was sorry and went to bed." A spokesman for the hotel, reached by Reuters by phone, declined to comment on the report.
In London, a Downing Street spokesman said: "We have been contacted by a number of media organizations about stories in the Italian media concerning Euan Blair on holiday with his family.
"These stories relate to an evening he spent with friends and parents of friends. They are completely untrue and so therefore there is no legitimate public interest served in reporting them." In July, Euan was arrested for being "drunk and incapable" during a night of illegal drinking in London's west end and lied about his identity, age and address when questioned by police.
The teenager was later reprimanded by police and said through the prime minister's spokesman that he was very sorry for what he had done.
