The acclaimed drama “No Prior Appointment”, which won the Golden Saint George for best film at the 2022 Moscow International Film Festival, tells the story of an Iranian emigrant who, after 30 years, is compelled to return to her home country upon learning of her estranged father’s death. She hastily takes leave from her work as a doctor in Germany, bringing her young autistic son with her, which makes the trip challenging for her.

Pegah Ahangarani, Mostafa Zamani, Elham Korda and Saber Abar are in the cast among others.

A 2022 Iranian war drama, “Squad of Girls” revolves around the Battle of Khorramshahr of 1980. It shows the resistance and self-sacrifice of women in the early days of the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war, and by reconstructing live and documentary images of the house-to-house battle in Khorramshahr, has created the first cinematic image of that resistance from a female perspective.

The cast includes Niki Karimi, Pantea Panahiha, Fereshteh Hosseini, Hoda Zeinolabedin, and Sadaf Asgari among others.

A romance comedy, “Romanticism of Emad & Tooba” is about Emad and Tooba who, when meeting each other for the first time, both know that love is more of a skill than excitement and heartbeat and itchy skin.

Elnaz Habibi, Hesam Mahmoudi, and Ali Ansarian play in the movie along with the reset of the cast.

“Mehran” follows a family from Mehran, a small town near the border of Iran and Iraq, which moves to Yazd after the Iran-Iraq war breaks out in 1980.

The cast includes Alireza Abbasbeygi, Sajjad Esmaeili, Masoumeh Ghasemipour, Hamid Hajimohamadzadeh, Shima Mirabshahi, and Mohamad Mehdi Mirhosseini among others.

The 15th Tashkent International Film Festival is held in order to preserve and develop the age-old traditions of national cinematography, further develop cultural and educational activities in the Republic of Uzbekistan and develop cultural ties at the international level, foster patriotism, strengthen friendship and brotherhood between peoples, and expand the scope of creative cooperation between various countries.

In addition to the “Days of Iran Cinema,” other programs of this year’s festival include such events as master classes, exclusive film screenings, and a competition for young directors titled “Cinema in 5 Days”.
