TEHRAN Cooperative Minister Morteza Haji reiterated on Monday on the non-interference of the government in the affairs related to the cooperatives.
Addressing the Cooperatives Week gathering, he said that the Cooperative Ministry intends to thoroughly hand over the responsibility of administering the cooperatives to the members.
"Cooperative Ministry currently monitors the cooperatives affairs which intends to entrust it to the members and get involved in only supporting the cooperative sector," he said.
"With a great importance the Constitution attaches to the cooperatives sector, it aims to prevent a blatant difference among various strata in the society, publicize the economic activities and not allow the government to act as an absolute employer." He complained of a lack of ideological harmony among the officials involved in this sector which, he said, had not let the goals mulled by the Constitution put into effect.
Haji gave an upbeat assessment of a support by the Sixth Majlis (Parliament) for the cooperatives sector and a change in the attitude of the Management and Planning Organization (MPO) toward this issue.
