Intl. Day of Children Honors Children's Rights

TEHRAN Head of the Cultural Heritage Organization (C.H.O.) Mohammad Beheshti said the International Day of Children honors the rights of children for building a better world. Beheshti said programs of International Day of Children should be performed not only in Tehran but also in other cities across the country.
He said C.H.O.'s experts in collaboration with other cultural organizations in the country strive for understanding the historical and cultural identity of the country.
Head of C.H.O. alluded to the first anniversary of the establishment of the Association of Lovers of Cultural Heritage, and said this association is active alongside the C.H.O. for the preservation of historical and national identity of Islamic Iran. Beheshti said those who love their cultural heritage are hailed as cultured people in the world, adding that the ceremonies for the day will be held with the theme of, "Children, Friendship and Cultural Heritage". He said the various artistic, cultural and recreational programs will be performed at Sadaabad Complex on Friday, attended by artists, experts, children and their families.
Beheshti said during the ceremony children will be acquainted with archaeological excavation for understanding the ancient world. Other programs for the occasion consist of graphic arts, painting, caricature, calligraphy, porcelain-making, sculpture, acquaintance with cuneiform characters, carpet-weaving and exhibitions of works of art by children and young adults. Every year the UN commemorates October 7 as International Day of Children.
