Araghchi reaffirms Iran’s inalienable nuclear rights in call with IAEA chief

TEHRAN – Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has once again asserted Iran’s unwavering commitment to its sovereign nuclear rights, making it clear that Tehran will not be intimidated by U.S. bullying.

In a recent call with IAEA chief Rafael Grossi, Araghchi reinforced that Iran seeks only what is legally its own: the right to peaceful nuclear technology as guaranteed under the NPT.

The two sides also discussed the latest developments related to indirect negotiations between the United States and Iran aimed at achieving a just understanding regarding the latter’s nuclear program that came under U.S.-Israeli strikes in June of 2025.

Despite the ongoing Oman-mediated talks, Washington continues to play a provocative and dangerous game. While Iranians have been focused on drafting a framework to be discussed with the Americans, the U.S. has met Iran’s good faith with empty war rhetoric and a massive military build-up in regional waters.

This aggressive war posture follows the total failure of foreign-backed riots, during which Donald Trump openly sided with armed mercenaries in a desperate attempt to destabilize the Islamic Republic.

In his call with Grossi, Araghchi reiterated his country's resolve to engage in diplomacy for a negotiated settlement.

Tehran says it will provide guarantees to the U.S. that it will not pursue nuclear weapons, and in return, wants debilitating U.S. sanctions that have devastated the Iranian public to be lifted.
