TEHRAN – A series of power generation and grid development projects were inaugurated by Energy Minister Abbas Aliabadi via video conference in Isfahan and Kerman provinces as part of ongoing expansion plans in Iran’s electricity sector, the Ministry of Energy said.

The projects include the commissioning of a 138-megawatt steam unit at the combined-cycle power plant of Foulad Bootia Iranian Company in Kerman province.

With the addition of the steam unit, the plant completes its combined-cycle configuration, raising practical generation capacity and significantly improving efficiency, which is expected to reduce fuel consumption and enhance grid stability in southeast Iran.

In Isfahan province, 24 substation, transmission and sub-transmission projects with total investment of 48.855 trillion rials (about $97.7 million) have been prepared for operation by the regional electricity company.

The projects aim to increase network capacity, remove transmission bottlenecks and ensure stable power supply for industrial and residential consumers in one of Iran’s key industrial hubs.

In addition, 11 low-voltage and distribution network projects worth 27.88 trillion rials (about $55.8 million) and 13 other distribution projects valued at 8.77 trillion rials (about $17.5 million) were launched in the province, improving reliability indices, expanding electrification and upgrading service quality for subscribers.

The inaugurations, held ahead of the summer peak demand season, are aimed at strengthening generation capacity and reinforcing transmission and distribution infrastructure to support stable electricity supply during high-consumption periods.
