Russian Vessel Sinks in Anzali, Crew Rescued

ANZALI PORT, Gilan Prov. A Russian cargo vessel sank Friday near this Iranian port of the Caspian Sea but all of its 14 crewmen were rescued, the provincial shipping chief said.
Hadi Haq-Shenas told IRNA that the Russian Elena vessel was carrying 3,200 tons of goods and nine containers.
He said that it had sunk after a container on board the vessel overturned and cut a hole in the ship's hull.
Elena, carrying Russian flag was manufactured in 1973 and had ferried between Anzali Port of Iran and Russian ports for two months.
