TEHRAN A ceremony marking the 15th anniversary of the death of Salman Harati, the famous contemporary Iranian poet, was held in the city of Tonekabon and was attended by a large number of poets and other literary figures.
Deputy Governor of Mazandaran Province, Ja'far Rahmanzadeh, speaking at the ceremony, praised Harati for his remarkable poets, saying that he was deeply committed to moral values and revolutionary principles.
He said that poets like Harati have close relations with people from all walks of life, adding that Harati's poems mainly had religious themes.
Meanwhile, head of the provincial Culture and Islamic Guidance Office hailed Harati as a revolutionary poet.
At the ceremony, poets from different cities read their poems in praise of Harati's noble character and special qualities.
Late Salman Harati worked as a teacher in a village near the city of Roudsar. He was killed in a car accident in 1985 at the age of 31.
