ASHKHABAD Turkmenistan and Iran signed on Friday a memorandum on mutual understanding, which stated that Turkmenistan was ready to supply gas to the city of Daragaz, situated in Iran's region bordering on Turkmenistan.
The co-chairmen of the bilateral commission for economic cooperation, Turkmen Vice Premier Khudaikuly Khalykov and Iran's Transportation Minister Mahmoud Hojjati, inked the memorandum after the fifth session of the commission ended in the Turkmen capital.
Turkmen gas to Iran is exported through the Korpedzhe-Qurt Qui pipeline. Two billion cubic meters of gas have been exported to Iran this year.
The memorandum said natural gas would be supplied to Daragaz, where many ethnic Turks live.
