TEHRAN The Iranian President's Office issued a communique in which the university students from across the country are invited to attend President Khatami's student day address.
In order to attend the gathering on Wednesday, December 6, the students will have to present their valid student ID cards.
The other groups invited to the gathering that will start on 9 a.m. at Tehran Teachers Training University are the university professors and staff.
On December 6, 1953, three of the students of the Faculty of Technical Sciences of the University of Tehran, Azar Shri'at-Razavi, Nasser Qandchi and Mostafa Bozorgnia, who were among the university students protesting against the then U.S. president, Richard Nixon's trip to Iran, were shot dead in front of the main gate of the Tehran University by the security agents of the deposed Pahlavi regime.
The anniversary of their martyrdom, called the "Students Day" since the victory of the Islamic Revolution, has always been celebrated ever since 1984 by the Iranian university students who refer to them as "the three bright stars in the sky of Iranian students' struggles." (IRNA)
