TEHRAN Judiciary Chief Mahoumd Hashemi Shahroudi said here on Tuesday that lack of proper strategy has led to brokerage and under-cover deals in customs operations.

In a meeting with the officials of Customs Administration, Shahroudi said, We have paid a heavy price to counter smuggling'' whereas some illogical rules and regulations have led to brokerage and under-cover deals.

Shahroudi called for a revision of the rules and regulations in a bid to adopt a correct and proper strategy in conformity with Islamic rules and responsive to Public rights. This, he said, will help the customs administration undergo qualitative and quantitative growth in rendering services.

Lauding the efforts of the Customs Administration officials, Shahroudi called on them to revise their policies in a bid to meet the meet public requirements promptly.

The plan will help decrease the number of complaints lodged by the people, he said.

Prior to Shahroudi's speech, Head of Customs Administration of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mahdi Karbasian briefed the Judiciary Chief on the activities as well as upcoming plan of the organization.
