TEHRAN The Abu Dhabi-based Arabic language daily Al-Ittihad wrote in its editorial column that Iran has "occupied" the three islands of Abu Musa, the Greater Tunb and the Lesser Tunb for the past 29 years.

Contrary to the name of the daily which means "unity", the content of the article is a purposeful attempt to sow the seeds of disunity among the Muslim countries at a time when the Islamic world is going through its most crucial test, with the Israelis committing all sorts of atrocities against the oppressed Palestinians.

The writer or writers of the said column must bear in mind that they did not say a single word about the three Iranian islands during the Shah's time while he was an agent of the United States and a close ally of Israel.

Now that the Islamic Republic is paying a heavy price for its opposition to Israel and at a time when the Islamic world needs unity to close ranks in order to face up to the Israeli atrocities, paying attention to the issues which are mainly created by Britain and other foreign powers in not in the interests of the Muslim world.

Such measures will only serve the enemies of Islam. The said islands belong to Iran and will remain Iranian so long as blood runs in the vein of every Iranian citizen. Al-Ittihad (Unity) had better try to create unity among Muslims, not sow the seeds of discord which is a perfect service to Zionist regime the most dangerous enemy of the Muslims.
