Speaker Arrives in Zanjan to Inaugurate Projects

ZANJAN The Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Majlis), Mahdi Karrubi, arrived in this northern provincial capital city on Wednesday and was welcomed at the city's airport by a group of local officials.

Iranian Customs Administration Head Mahdi Karbassian and two deputy ministers of the Ministry of Industries and Mines are accompanying Karrubi in this one-day visit to Zanjan Province.

Upon his arrival in the airport, the Majlis speaker told reporters that highlights of his visit include separate meetings with the provincial ulema, local officials and residents on the occasion of the "Ten-Day-dawn" festivities marking the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

He further told reporters he would be inaugurating a number of development and industrial projects in the province to mark the same occasion.

Referring to the province's potentials, Karrubi said its potentials in the areas of agriculture and industry are significant.
