TEHRAN Members of the Assembly of Experts in their Tuesday session underlined the need for safeguarding the legitimacy of the Constitution and all the legal institutions of the system as a basic legal and religious responsibility of various groups and factions.

The pre-agenda speakers of the session also urged removal of the grounds for differences and political factionalism among members of the "revolution family".

"Today, in the sacred Islamic Republic system, religion is posed to a serious and great experiment in which all involved in the administration of the system, especially the clerics, are duty bound to portray the powerful, progressive and elevated profile of Islam in its managerial, administration and educational dimensions," the assembly members said.

The participants also condemned any attempt aimed to deviate the public opinion from realities and distort the course of the Islamic Revolution in order to harm the profile of the Islamic system and noble figures of the Islamic Revolution.

Members of the assembly also called for a better planning and formation of a more powerful and disciplined organization within the boundaries of the responsibilities of the assembly for a more applicable and expert practice.

Meanwhile, the members of the Assembly of Experts elected Ayatollah Ali Meshkini as speaker of the assembly.

Ayatollah Meshkini who serves as the speaker in the past two eight-year terms was elected with 57 votes out of 62 votes of experts present in the polling.

First deputy speaker Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani was reelected to the post with 55 votes and second deputy speaker Ayatollah Ebrahim Amini Najafabadi was reinstated with 47 votes.

Secretaries Hojjatoleslam Hassan Taheri-Khorramabadi and Ayatollah Qorban-Ali Dorri-Najafabadi received 43 and 34 votes respectively to remain in the same post.
