TOKYO Two-time champions Jubilo Iwata extended their lead at the top of the J-League first division to nine points on Saturday after a 1-0 win at Kashiwa Reysol.

Veteran Japan striker Masashi Nakayama headed in a corner in the sixth minute at Kashiwa-No-Ha Stadium and Iwata held on comfortably to record their 10th win from 11 matches in the season's first stage.

Jubilo now have 29 points, with Shimizu S-Pulse second on 20 points as the J-League program resumed after a four-week break for the Confederations Cup.

Shimizu, who have a game in hand on Iwata, won a close match at home to Urawa Reds 1-0 thanks to a golden goal from substitute Takayuki Yokoyama.

Jef United Ichihara stay third on 19 points after substitute Masataka Sakamoto grabbed a sudden-death winner to earn them a dramatic 4-3 victory at Gamba Osaka, Reuters reported.

Nagoya Grampus eight salvaged a 2-2 draw at Consadole Sapporo. Yugoslavian international Dragan Stojkovic, with a penalty, and substitute Kenji Fukuda with a last-minute header, canceled out goals from Brazilian striker Will.

The result kept Nagoya in fourth place on 17 points, ahead of Sapporo on goal difference, although Grampus eight have played one game less.
