TEHRAN The Algerian president's message to his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Khatami is to be submitted during the visit of Speaker of Algerian National Assembly Abdelkader ben Salah to Tehran.

Ben Salah arrived here Tuesday morning for a two-day visit.

Upon arrival at Mehrabad International Airport, he told reporters that President Abdelaziz Bouteflika's message for President Khatami is a message of brotherhood, friendship and appreciation.

Expressing pleasure over development of Tehran-Algiers cooperation during the past one year, he called for further promotion of bilateral parliamentary ties.

Ben Salah further called for exchange of parliamentary experiences with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Meanwhile, the speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, Majlis, Mahdi Karrubi who was at the airport to welcome his Algerian counterpart, said that Iran-Algeria parliamentary friendship group is to be formed soon.

Due to significant position of both Iran and Algeria in the world of Islam, bilateral cooperation between the two countries will play a key role in settlement of problems facing the Islamic states particularly regarding the Palestinian crisis, he added.
