SEOUL Six people were killed when a five-story motel caught fire in South Korea's inland local city of Chonan early Friday, police and firefighters said. According to AFP, some of the motel residents were seen leaning out of their room windows, as they tried to catch hold of an escape rope as the fire raged behind them, local television reports showed. Some 70 people were in the motel at the time of fire, they said. The fire department suspected the blaze started in the building's underground boiler room, as witnesses had said they heard a loud bang from the basement before the fire spread. The exact cause of fire was still under investigation. Some 120 firefighters and 30 fire engines were mobilized to put out the blaze.
