LONDON Bayern Munich midfielder Owen Hargreaves has been named in the England squad for next Wednesday's friendly match against the Netherlands.

England Coach Sven Goran Eriksson called up the 20-year-old Canadian-born player for the first time when he named a 26-strong party for the game at White Hart Lane.

Arsenal defender Sol Campbell, who is not fully fit, together with teammates David Seaman and Ray Parlour were omitted.

Middlesbrough pair Gareth Southgate and Ugo Ehiogu have also been recalled but Leeds United defender Rio Ferdinand was left out due to a hamstring injury, Reuters reported.

England face two important World Cup qualifiers at the start of next month. They play old rivals Germany in Munich on September 1 and take on Albania in Newcastle on September 5.
