NAIROBI -- A lioness in northern Kenya's Samburu game reserve has been protecting an oryx calf for two weeks before a lion killed and ate the young antelope at the weekend, a tour official said Monday. The daily **Nation **Newspaper carried pictures of the lioness and the young oryx walking or lying together. Lmakiya Lesarge, a tour official in Samburu, told AFP that the lioness had lived with the little oryx as if it was its own offspring since the two met in the bush two weeks ago. He said the lioness had tried to fight off the lion that killed the oryx on Sunday.
