TEHRAN -- Majlis Speaker, Hojjatoleslam Mahdi Karrubi is to visit Germany on March 6, sources close to Karroubi's office told the IRNA correspondent in Berlin Monday.

The visit follows an invitation earlier issued by German Parliament Speaker Wolfgang Thierse during a visit to Iran in February last year.

German-Iranian ties have witnessed a political, economic and cultural renaissance following Iranian President Seyed Mohammad Khatami's landmark visit to Germany in the summer of 2000.
