TEHRAN Iran exported various industrial products worth $2.5 billion during the last year (ended March 20), director general for industrial exports affairs in Industries and Mines Ministry Ahmad Qasemi said on Monday.

"Some 66.6 percent of the last year non-oil exports included industrial and mineral goods," he added.

The official noted that the export value of state industrial and mineral sectors surpassed the predicted figures of industrial exports last year owing to suitable programs.

"The total value of the industrial and mineral exports should be around $2.6 billion, due to the fact that more than 70 percent of border markets exports and luggage exports consisted of industrial products," he stated.

Qasemi went on to say that industrial and mineral products worth $3.2 billion are planned to be exported during the current year, of which some 4865 million would be for mineral and metal products, $1.18 million for petrochemical products and the remaining $1.18 million for industrial goods.

He added that the amount of exports last year showed 10.5 percent growth as compared to the predicted figure in the Third Economic Development Plan (2000-2005).
