TEHRAN -- A close associate of Osama bin Laden, known as bin Laden's European ambassador, is still hiding in Britain, the British daily **Guardian** reported. Abu Qatadah, who is wanted by several European countries, has so far avoided capture, and the British Home Office has come under increasing international pressure to explain why he has not been arrested yet. Some media recently reported that British intelligence officers had obtained certain information from Abu Qatadah, who is suspected of membership in several terrorist groups in Europe, in return for ensuring his safety. German police say that Abu Qatadah is the spiritual leader of a terrorist group suspected of bombing a synogogue in Tunisia that killed 16 people, most of them German tourists. Abu Qatada, who was granted political assylum by Britian in 1994, is also on the FBI's most wanted list.
