TEHRAN -- Head of Iran's Touring and Tourism Organization (ITTO), Mohammad Mo'ezzodin, said here Thursday that his office has given a top priority to introduce the country's tourism potentials and prepare the necessary facilities to attract more tourists. Mo'ezzoddin, at the inauguration of the Thai Cuisine Festival, held at the Azadi Hotel said that Iran's Third Five-Year Economic, Social and Cultural Development Plan (2000-2005) places a high emphasis on the expansion of tourism. The official said the world's positive welcome to president Mohammad Khatami's idea of 'Dialogue Among Civilizations' has prepared the ground for the growth of the tourism industry. The number of tourists visiting Iran has risen to 1,300,000 from 700,000 over the past two years, showing a 33.5 percent growth compared to the figure in the preceding year, he said.
