TEHRAN -- Head of the Iranian Presidential Office, Ali Khatami, in a meeting with his Yemenese counterpart, Ali al-Ensi, here on Sunday underlined the need to enhance ties.

Khatami described as "positive" the trend of bilateral relations, and pointed to the capabilities of both countries to boost political, economic, cultural as well as artistic ties, IRNA reported.

He also noted that Tehran and San'a have active and mutually beneficial cooperation in the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) and in other regional and international organizations.

The Yemenese official, for his part, referred to the two countries' cultural commonalties as a good framework within which to promote bilateral ties in the regional and international levels.

Al-Ensi took the occasion to reiterate an invitation previously extended to Iranian President Mohammad Khatami to visit Yemen.
