Tajikistan's Economic Delegation Calls For Expansion of Mutual Ties

TEHRAN -- Tajik economic delegation, comprising four cabinet ministers, conferred here on Saturday with President Mohammad Khatami on issues of mutual interest.

According to the information and press bureau of the presidential office, at the meeting, Khatami underlined Iran's principled policy on expansion of relations with neighboring countries, mainly with Tajikistan, IRNA reported.

Highlighting Tajikistan's potentials, he expressed hope that the two countries will further broaden mutual cooperation in various economic and technical fields.

Iran's Minister of Economy and Finance Tahmasb Mazaheri and Minister of Agriculture Jihad Mahmoud Hojjati were also present in the meeting in which president Khatami underlined the need for multilateral cooperation among regional countries to help revive the silk road.

Referring to the cultural and historical commonalities as well as grounds for expansion of economic, technical and engineering cooperation, the Tajik delegation called for further expansion of mutual ties.
