TEHRAN -- "The First Oboe Players festival is to be held in Doroud on the occasion of the death anniversary of late master Shah-Mirza Moradi," said the town's Islamic Guidance Department Manager Gholamhossein Khorsand.

Moradi - died in 1997 -- was one of the prominent oboe players of the country who introduced this instrument worldwide, said the manager adding that Moradi was awarded the title of "The Ocean Pearl" in France Winton Festival of Woodwind Musical Instruments for his excellent performance.

Twenty oboe players are to attend the two-day festival which is held in two sections of "Research" and "Contest" in Doroud, Lorestan Province, on September 5-6, Khorsand added.

Prominent musicians will also attend the festival delivering speeches on the status of music in the society and about the specifications of woodwind musical instruments, he continued.

He further said oboe is the main traditional instrument in Lorestan and the local people playing oboe convey the stories of the traditional and cultural challenges of the regional people.
