TEHRAN - The head of Tbilisi's Persian Literature and Language University and a member of the European Iranology International Association, Professor Alexander Gvakharia died of a heart attack on Sunday.

Filled with respect and love for the Iranian culture, he worked to introduce the rich culture of Iran to other nations, especially Georgians.

His last book, entitled "27 Articles", is a candidate at the International Section of the Iranian Book of the Year contest.

A commemorating ceremony was held in Tbilisi on Sunday, attended by several prominent Georgian personalities as well as the Iranian ambassador to Georgia.
