TEHRAN -- Documenting the largest Mazandaran Cemetery belonging to Islamic era located in Sefid-Chah village of Mazandaran Province is finally over.

Some 20 arched tombstones resembling mihrab (prayer niche) narrate the clamorous history of the region, said the head of excavating group.

Shahrbanoo Vafaei added that the tombstones belong to 6-14 A.H centuries.

According to Mazandaran Cultural Heritage Department, the tombstones indicate the evolution and variety of scripts and Islamic patterns, as well as symbolic patterns that tell of the crafts of the buried people.
