THERAN -- Twelve German women journalists are to travel to Iran on May 20, the Persian service of CHN reported on Wednesday.

The journalists are scheduled to visit Tehran, Shiraz, and Isfahan during their one-week tour, the managing director of Irandustan Tourist travel agency said.

Mohammad Ashraf Vaqefi explained that the agency signed a contract in 2006 at the Berlin ITB Exhibition, one of the largest exhibitions for the tourism industry worldwide, inviting a group of women journalists to Iran to report on Iran’s tourism industry.

“Women play a very influential role in encouraging men to travel,” he added.

The group is also scheduled to visit the Iranian Foods Festival, which is currently underway at the Banu Cultural Center in Tehran and a carpet-weaving workshop in Isfahan, he said in conclusion.
