TEHRAN - Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani has sent a letter to President Ahmadinejad, criticizing the administration for not implementing the parliamentary ratification concerning the formation of sports and youth ministry.

“The Majlis speaker has written an admonitory letter to the president concerning the implementation of this law and we are awaiting its implementation,” MP Jalal Yahya-Zadeh told the Mehr News Agency on Tuesday.
“Unfortunately, the government has not showed any determination to establish this ministry and appoint someone as a sports and youth minister,” Yahya-Zadeh said.
He also announced that April 9 is a deadline for the formation of this ministry and if it is not met, the parliament will make efforts to put this law into effect by exercising its authority.
On July 2, 2011, the parliament gave final approval to a proposal calling for the merger of the Physical Education Organization and the National Youth Organization to form sports and youth ministry.
Out of 212 MPs, 157 voted in favor, 44 voted against and 11 abstained.
The lawmakers who pushed for the formation of the ministry said it will hold officials responsible for sports and youth affairs accountable to the Majlis.
