A new study has revealed that the U.S. loses up to $63 billion each year because of overtired workers who underestimate the influence some kind of insomnia can have on their work.
Over 7,000 employees have been questioned by the researchers about their sleeping habits. The shocking result is that 23 percent suffer from insomnia, and that means a loss of 7.8 days of work a year for their employers due to the reduced productivity.
On the development of insomnia, an independent sleep-medicine specialist said: "There appears to be more insomnia, given more work and family responsibilities, and more technological improvements and distractions."
