TEHRAN -- European artists’ posters inspired by Persian art and culture are currently on display during a showcase at Tehran’s Niavaran Cultural Center.

The exhibit, featuring 26 posters by artists from 15 European countries, was opened during a ceremony at the main gallery of the center on Tuesday.

Representatives from Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and ambassadors of some European countries including Denmark, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Slovakia, Romania, Poland, Austria, Finland and Hungary attended the ceremony.

Entitled “Persian Influences on European Culture, Art and Science”, the exhibition is sponsored by the Polish Embassy.

At the ceremony, Poland’s Ambassador Juliusz J. Gojlo spoke about the aims of holding the exhibition.

“The aim of holding the showcase is to feature the great impact of Iranian art and culture on European. It is a symbolic act to feature the deep relation that always exists between European countries and Iran,” Gojlo mentioned at the event.

Afterward, the Swedish Ambassador Magnus Wernstedt stressed on introducing the rich culture of Iran as a great task which should not be forgotten.

He called the exhibit “excellent” saying that the plan was proposed by the Embassy of Poland to boost ties between Iran and Europe.

“Iranian culture is well known in Sweden. Many Iranians live in my country and in this way, the Swedish nation is acquainted with Persian culture and civilization. It is our duty as the ambassadors of European countries to strengthen cultural ties,” he added. 

The exhibit will run until December 25 at the Gallery 1 of the center.
