Tehran to host Turkmenistan’s Cultural Days

TEHRAN – Tehran’s Milad Tower will be hosting Turkmenistan’s Cultural Days from May 17 to 20 with a wide range of programs introducing the art and culture of the country.
Exhibition of handicrafts, paintings, live music performances and film screening sessions as well as meetings with scholars have been arranged during the program, Turkmenistan Ambassador to Tehran Gurbanov Ahmet Kakabayevich said on Sunday.
He made the remarks in a meeting with the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) deputy director in cultural affairs, Mohammad Hashemi, on Sunday.
Minister of Culture of Turkmenistan Annageldi Garajayev is expected to attend the opening ceremony, the ambassador said, adding that the minister is also scheduled to meet with his counterpart Ali Jannati in Iran.
The ambassador called the event a big step towards the expansion of cultural relations and invited the Iranian people to attend and watch the programs.
May 18 marks the birth anniversary of Makhtum-Qoli Faraghi (1733-1790) who is buried in Aq-Tuqai village in Golestan Province of Iran.
He is considered to be the founder of authentic Turkmen literature by the people who speak the language.
