TEHRAN – Iranian director Reza Dormishian’s social drama “Lanturi” is competing in the 41st Cleveland International Film Festival, which is currently underway in the U.S. city.
The movie starring Baran Kowsari and Navid Mohammadzadeh tells a love story that is turned tragic by external circumstances.
Gang member Pasha runs amok because Maryam, a socially committed, self-confident journalist, does not reciprocate his feelings. The badly injured young woman demands lex talionis – the law, applicable in Iran, of ‘an eye for an eye’.
The festival will come to an end by awarding winners on April 9.
