TEHRAN – Iranian scholar of philosophy Gholamhossein Ebrahimi-Dinani was honored with a lifetime achievement award during a ceremony held at the Iranian Society of Cultural Works and Luminaries on Tuesday.

The ceremony was attended by the Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli, who presented a gift to the scholar during his short stay at the ceremony, the society announced in a press release published on Wednesday.

A number of participating scholars delivered speeches during the event, praising Ebrahimi-Dinani for his great endeavors and educational activities over the years.

The 83-year-old scholar Ebrahimi-Dinani, the author of several books on philosophy, used to teach philosophy at several universities in Tehran.

“All the Islamic philosophers were either Iranians or were of Iranian origin,” said Ebrahimi-Dinani when he came to the stage to receive his award.

“Iran was the cradle of civilization. When Iran was on the head of making civilization and promoting culture, only Greece in Europe was known through its great philosophers,” he said.

“I must admit that we the contemporary philosophers of Iran inscribe our works in Persian to reinforce and promote the Persian language,” he remarked.

He later received his achievement award from the director of the society Hassan Bolkhari, and Gholamreza Avani, a member of Iran’s Academy of Science.

Gholamhossein Ebrahimi-Dinani was born in 1934. He is known as the individual who has helped revive Oriental Theosophy through reviewing and studying works by the Master of Oriental Theosophy, Shahab al-Din Yahya Sohrevardi.

“General Principles of Philosophy”, “Logic and Knowledge in Ghazali’s Opinion” and “Worship of a Philosopher” are among Dinani’s noteworthy credits.
